   My son once had suspected meningitis. I took him to the GP. The GP told   
   me to drive him straight to the hospital and he phoned ahead so that  my   
   son was taken directly for treatment and diagnosis on arrival,   
   antibiotics and lumbar puncture.   
      
   Whilst the press may say suspected meningitis I doubt any of the A&E   
   triage nurses suspected meningitis.
