   Mostly they are men. A lot of the scams originate in sub-saharan africa   
   where they are almost exclusively men but there are a lot of former USSR   
   countries running the scams and they are mostly blokes running the scam   
   with women as the 'shop window'. The case local to me was the teenager   
   who was pulled in by the girl on the video and then blackmailed by the   
   blokes. He jumped to his death off the Forth road bridge. He was at   
   school with my son.   
      
   As for my mate, he has nothing left but still goes looking for love in   
   all the wrong places repeatedly. Last I heard he was still looking for a   
   woman online. At least now he has no money so he is much less of a target.
