   Back in the day, a name ending with an 'a' denoted a female, an 'o'   
   denoted a male. So, as I have not seen a photo of this Shia, and   
   therefore have no image to associate with the name, I still see the   
   name in print and think automatically that it's referring to a female.   
   How confusing. Why can't they stick to the rules?   
      
   His Wikipedia entry contains this information:   
   "His first name is pronounced to rhyme with "hiya" and his last name is   
   pronounced "La-buff". That makes it worse!   
      
   But I have now seen a photo of him.
