|    Democrat Running On "Trayvon Martin" Pla    |

XPost: alt.politics, alt.politics.democrats.d, alt.abortion       XPost: sbay.politics       From: pelosi@mail.house.gov              By Brian Anderson       August 27, 2014              A few weeks ago I brought you the story of Mary Rose Wilcox, a       Phoenix area democrat running for the US House of       Representatives on an offensive Trayvon Martin platform. The       good news is, race-baiting and shameless pandering are not as       effective tools as liberals think. Wilcox was defeated soundly       in yesterday’s democratic primary and won’t be bringing her deck       of race cards to Washington DC.              As I previously reported, Wilcox sent out a campaign mailer with       the image of slain teen Trayvon Martin that told supporters a       vote for her opponent Ruben Gallego would make similar       “tragedies” commonplace. Apparently the voters didn’t buy this       ridiculous claim as Gallegos won 48% of the vote while Wilcox       only got 36%.              A Mother Jones article from a few days ago asked the questions:       Can This Democrat Win on a No More “Trayvon Martin Tragedies”       Platform? and Could the 2012 killing of Florida teenager Trayvon       Martin prove a deciding factor in an Arizona Democratic       congressional primary? We now know the answer to both is “no”       and “hell no.”              It’s more likely that gun rights, not Trayvon, were a deciding       factor in Wilcox’s demise. She is a rabid anti-gun crusader and       even for democrats, Arizona is gun country. From that same MJ       article we learn:              Wilcox, who was shot in the hip in 1997 by an angry constituent,       has kept gun control front and center during the campaign,       although not always successfully.              Wow, one of her own constituents shot her? Maybe that should       have been a clue that people don’t like her message. Her       opponent Gallego is relatively gun friendly, as far as a       democrat can be, and that probably played a role in Wilcox’s       defeat.              There’s also the possibility that she comes off as insane. She       made the news when she helped file a lawsuit alleging Gallego       improperly changed his last name:              “My opponent has used the names Ruben Marinelarena, Ruben       Gallego, Ruben Gallego Marinelarena, and Ruben Marinelarena       Gallego at different times for various purposes since he moved       to Arizona, a few years ago. A lot has happened under each of       those names, and the voters have a right to know who a candidate       really is”, said Wilcox.              The only problem was, none of it was true. A local newspaper       debunked the claim beyond a shadow of a doubt that Gallego has       consistently used the same last name.              It’s nice to see that Wilcox’s pathetic attempt at race hustling       fell flat on its face. I hope other democrats were following the       race. You just know some of them are considering running on a       “no more Michael Brown tragedies” or “no more Furgusons”       platform in the upcoming elections. They should stick to their       positions on jobs, the economy, and personal freedom. Then again       that might be just as big of a mistake for democrats.              Comment:              nordic templar • 8 minutes ago       Dumb bitch . Trayvon is old news , she should have exploited the       death of Brown instead .              http://downtrend.com/71superb/democrat-running-on-trayvon-martin-       platform-loses-primary/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
