I thought that I would post this to add to the discussion on the 50th
anniversary of the worker's uprising in Hungary:-

Revolution and Counter-Revolution in Hungary by Gerry Healy (November
   1956)

I was interested in the British Communit Party's response. I was in
Britain at the time. It does seem that the influence of Communism has
permanently affected the political mind of anyone in Britain employed in the
Public Services. From the BBC to the Teachers Unions. Not openly stated
as Communist but shown to be in behaviour.

Mediocrity and lack of initiative is the key marker. The very
characteristics of the poorer elements of society trying to elevate
themselves but thwarted by lack of talent and seeking solace in group-think.
