   It might be slightly cheaper to do so.  :-)  After all, desalination is   
   going to require some energy to separate the solute from the solvent.   
   I don't know how that relates to water's heat of vaporization, though.   
      
   And it turns out that we already *have* a nuclear-powered desalination   
   plant; part of it is about 150 million km away. :-)  Of course, it's   
   a little hard to control the heat output.
