Mike - - - it really is going overboard. I know some Cuban officials
personally. They are pretty much like you and me, just folks doing a job. We
may have differences of opinions - but they are not bad people. There is an
ideological wall between you and them. The wall is lower for me because I am
not Cuban and don't have your passions. At least not to the degree you and
other Cuba ex-patriots have.No matter how much affection I may have, I am
still not Cuban and my understanding will always be limited because of that.
Try as I can, I'll never be you. I don't know what it would take to make you
and the guys IN Cuba realize your brotherhood and get you to reconcile.
Someday it must happen. Somehow something or someone must HEAL the
divisions. In that healing forgiveness has to play a role. Seeing the other
guy's point of view. Somehow the two realities must someday collide. I think
that both sides will have to face facts that they have been wrong about many
things. Hate can make good people do evil things. It's getting to be the
time for the hate to stop. It isn't going to be easy or quick.
