   Not true. Post-Stalinist regime in USSR was authoritarian but not a   
   murderous tyranny. The opposition was persecuted. But there were no   
   death squads - unlike in some predominantly Catholic countries   
   in Latin America.   
      
   By the way, murderous tyranny of Adolf Hitler enjoyed support of   
   Catholic Church. It went so far as to celebrate his birthday   
   (Protestant churches did not). Less murderous tyrannies of Franco and   
   Mussolini also were supported by the Catholic Church.
