It is NOT about rights.              Bakers and wedding planners are commercial enterprises.       They are not allowed to discriminate, and rightly so. The       baker who refuses to do the cake for a mixed-race couple       ends up in court, as does the photographer who won't do       Jewish weddings or take pictures of a disabled couple on       their happiest day.              Churches are not commercial enterprises. They can and do       refuse gays. That is their right. Or they can -- and do --       look at scripture again, pray a lot and come to the decision       that their congregation will accept and embrace gays and       Lesbians in the spirit of christ's love.                                   >       > Universal legal unions without the government ever using the word marriage       > is the only fair way for all.              The only fair way? Only if states and federal government       establish perfect equality in all rights and benefits for       both institutions. As matters stand, that is not the case       and not likely to come about any time soon -- mostly because       of the opposition from the gay-haters.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
