Because you'd be taxing       the rental of it. If they don't rent they lose the potential money and       in a market based free economy you can't afford to keep a property that       has value unless you have other sources of income and even then let the       land set idle is a rich man's game since a poor man needs to use       everything he has to maintain his life style.              SO a wealthy person would pay the tax by renting or take the loss by       letting it set idle.              The big difference is that government has stepped in to pay people for       crops they don't grow and oil they don't pump and wind generators that       don't make any money. People get all sorts of tax write offs for       Wal-mart because they create jobs.... SO taxing property isn't the       solution to anything, In fact the opposite is true, quit giving tax       breaks and subsidies to property owners.              Look at NEW YORK that allows businesses 10 years of no tax if they move       to NY. They have a high tax rate in that State already, why do they       need more businesses? Shouldn't their high taxes be creating an       economic boom?       --        Austerity is what happens when Socialists run out of other       people's money.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
