   Better yet, then they are where we can see them.  Extremism and fundie   
   craziness only gets worse when it hides away somewhere.  Koresh's Branch   
   Davidians would have been far less dangerous if its members had spent   
   their time preaching on street corners rather than locking themselves   
   away in their compound.  Ditto Islamic extremism: when left to stew in   
   their own private little communities in some old garage or factory   
   space, they are far more likely to develop insane ideas than when they   
   do their praying and preaching out in the open.
