   Message 6 of 37
   Andreas Tille to All
   Updating the FTP Master delegation
   18 Aug 25 12:30:01

   From: tille@debian.org

   Dear fellow developers,

As per Debian Constitution §8, I hereby appoint the following developers
   as FTP Masters:

    - Thorsten Alteholz (alteholz)
    - Ansgar Burchardt (ansgar)
    - Joerg Jaspert (joerg)
    - Luke W. Faraone (lfaraone)

This delegation reflects the resignation of Mark Hymers from Debian. I
would like to thank Mark for his many years of service, in particular
for his work on point releases, which has been greatly appreciated.

Any previous Debian Policy delegation not explicitly listed above is
revoked. The delegation is not time-limited and will be effective until
further changes by present or future Project Leaders.

   Task Description
   ----------------

FTP Masters, commonly referred to as "ftpmaster", oversee and maintain
the well-being of Debian's official package repositories. FTP Masters
are responsible for tasks that include:

   - Running the archive, maintaining the corresponding infrastructure
(e.g. the tools used for processing uploaded packages and the tools
used to move packages across suites).

   - Supporting the Release Managers, ensuring that packages move across
releases properly, according to the rules defined by the Release
     Managers.

   - Accepting and rejecting packages that enter the NEW and byhand queues.

   - Maintaining the state of packages and the archive via priority and
     section override files.

   - Maintaining the software used to run the archive, namely the Debian
     Archive Kit (dak).

   - Maintaining clear documentation of the team's key processes,
especially those related to releases, to support transparency and
     contributor involvement.

   Appendix
   --------

   - More info about the FTPMaster team can be found on the Debian wiki[1].

   - The FTP team also includes a number of "FTP assistants" and "FTP
trainees"[2] who have access to a subset of the tasks performed by
full FTP masters. While their contributions are greatly appreciated,
these roles do not require a formal delegation.

I'm explicitly thanking the FTPMaster team for their work

     Andreas, Debian Project Leader
