|    Trying to VPN from private IP behind ina    |

From: pub-rz@socal.rr.com              Hey all,              I've got a home network between a router/firewall with NAT and SPI.       I'm running XP Pro on the client and server machines. PPTP VPN to my       network works fine from dial-up or other access point.              But I need to VPN from a cell phone GPRS connection that has a private       IP (10.x.x.x). The only port I know to be open over the GPRS       connection is http's 80. That since I can surf sites without trouble.       ftp does not work, nor does https, for example.              I'm not well versed in VPN. Any way I can make this connection? Is       there a software package that can do VPN over a regular http       connection? If not a true VPN connection, is it possible to set up a       web server on the network and log in/transfer data securely over http?              I was told to look into a proxy. I'm not clear on exactly what this       would do for me. Basically, would I make requests of the proxy and       have it forward requests for me?              Please point me in some direction where I can learn more about these       issues. What I've learned so far is mostly from lots of       Dejanews/group reading and some VPN sites, but I'm still in the dark       about so much.              Thanks, Doug              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
