From: @verizon.net              I just got one today. I certainly couldn't write a review about it nor do I       feel qualified to. Hope to see a good review on it soon.              Bob posted some issues above and these issues should be considered in your       purchase.              I can only compare this to my old router (BEFSR41 v2).              1. The bootup seems a bit slower.              2. My download speed improved to 1300kbps from 1250kbps.              3. I was having issues with SecureClient that we use on our corporate sites.       With the BEFSR41 router with 1.44 firmware, I couldn't stay connected long       at all. I did the port forwarding, MTU and triggering with no joy. I had       solid connections with the 1.45 firmware, but transfer speed really took a       dump (around 40kbps).              With this router (WRV54G), transfer speed was around 110kbps. Plugged       directly into DSL modem I get 140kbps. A big improvement for me. These were       just my results with the same test file downloaded through the VPN tunnel       from one of our corporate servers.              4. Nice small profile.              5. A few more menu options.              I haven't tested the wireless yet (gotta buy Christmas gifts) but so far I       am liking this router.              If I do find some other issues, I'll be sure to post them. I am hoping to       try out the wireless in a few days and the VPN features (to this computer       instead of as a client) soon.              "James" |
