|    Does XP work with Multitech?    |

From: petri.riipinen@koti.              Hi guys,              I want to setup a following scenario:              - One small central office with fixed-IP server (running Linux or win server       2003, although this shouldn't matter) connected to internet over ADSL.              - Four branch offices with connections to internet also with ADSL, some have       fixed IP's some have dynamic ones.              Now, I want to have a Firewall & VPN-box on the small central office to (a)       block the server from the internet and (b) offer the 4 branches with client       VPN-connectivity to the small offices LAN where the server is located. And       in the future I need also a DMZ-port on the box in order to connect a       separate web-server to the internet.              I'm considering of bying Multitech SOHO Routefinder 550 or 560, the price       offered is pretty decent and money is definitely a big factor in this setup;       as cheaply as possible, but anyway we want a dedicated box, no fiddling       around with software-only firewalls or VPN's.              Now, do I really need to buy some specific VPN-client (e.g Sentinel) for the       4 branch offices so that they can connect to the central office through       Multitech SOHO? All the branch offices (only one person in each) have       Windows XP Pro's, doesn't it have a suitable VPN-client that would       interoperate with the Multitech? Here I'm assuming that the VPN-clients       would be extra cost and if XP already has this functionality, I wouldn't       want to buy anything extra.              - Pete              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
