   If I understand correctly, the one and only thing you are wanting to set up   
   this VPN for is to share a calendar, correct? And you want to know if VPN is   
   your only option? Basically, no. It depends partly on how robust this   
   calendar program is. Do you have a particular calendar program you must use,   
   or can it be a web-based program or even perhaps a cgi script that can be   
   accessed on a website? If so, that gives you a few more options... a search   
   of "web based calendars" or "cgi calendar" will probably give you several   
   options to look into if you have some flexibility. If it is something that   
   must reside on your machine and be shared, but without a remote-control type   
   program (PC Anywhere, etc), then VPN is a good choice. You do want to make   
   sure that is the only file you have set up for sharing though.
