|    Netgear FVS318 + Netgear DG834G to DG834    |

From: matt.deards@vamt.net              Hi,              As the subject line indicates I have the following equipment ready to       install (first two boxes at work and 2nd two at home). What I want to do is       be able to link my PC at home to my work network via ADSL, to map network       drives on a NT4/Win2k domain, perhaps get emails from the exchange server       etc. I also want to purchase the same equipment for 2 of our satellite       offices and link them up in the same way. The product information only       really indicates how to set up the FVS318 to connect to a modem, not the       Netgear DG834 routers I have in place and me not being a network guru, am       unsure on how to get all this equipment configured correctly.                     I currently have at the office, broadband (Nildram 2mb officepro, fixed IP)       comming into a 'DG384G modem/router/switch' combo box and then that plugs       into the FVS318, which in turn plugs into the office LAN switches. The       DG384G get the ISP info via DHCP, has a LAN IP of 192.168.0.1 and gives the       FVS318 a DHCP'd WAN IP address of something like 192.168.0.2 The FVS318 then       has a LAN IP of 10.1.1.1 and provides DHCP addresses to all the PC's on the       office LAN, in the 10.1.1.30 to 10.1.1.230 range. The servers I want to       connect too (win2k / NT4) have fixed LAN IP address of something like       10.1.1.240, 10.1.1.241 etc.              I did plan on setting the home end up in a similar fashion. broadband       (nildram fixed IP) comes into my DG834, FVS318 plugged into it and then plug       my home PC's directly into the FVS318...              Does anyone have any technical information available that would assist me in       my configuration or can you see any problems with what im trying to do?       Theres a good hour or so's round trip in the car between me and the office       so I want to try and get it working 1st time :)                     Many thanks in advance,       Matt Deards.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
