   Hmmm..I just created a vpn profile in XP Pro and there certainly was   
   an option under the profile for Enabling NBT.   
      
   Right click vpn profile--->Properties--->Networking-> Internet   
   Protocol--->Properties--->Advanced--->WINS--->   
   settings are near the middle and bottom.   
      
   I didn't read the first post in your series, but if you are using Pro   
   as a server, you might try creating an lmhosts file.   
      
   Are the machines both in the same workgroup?
