   The movie was fun, cute, and winsomely-appealing; the stage musical is   
   an off-script gagfest that wants to pick "Hairspray"'s gay   
   pop-culture/movie-bash pocket so badly, they can taste it.  -_-   
   (Seems like there *was* a good stage musical there originally, before   
   producers started playing up the "Hy-uck!--Worst movie in the world! :-P   
   " gags in the pre-press...)
