   	I know in some experiment, possibly a short, Tom Servo answered   
   some character standing in front of a bland background and singing,   
   o/` Ed Sul-li-van o/` ... which I took to be one of those many strange   
   things that just happens.   
      
   	And then on Turner Classic Movies I came across a moment of the   
   Dick Van Dyke/Ann Margrock/Janet Leigh vehicle _Bye Bye Birdie_, with a   
   bit where for some reason the guy who does Mildew Wolf's voice sings an   
   angel-filled chorus to the notion of appearing on Ed Sullivan.   
      
   	So now I know what the reference was.  And now I've got no idea   
   which episode it was had the reference.   
      
   	I think this reflects a conservation law of some kind.
