From: Scorpio42@webtv.net              The Day the "Wienermobile" Came To Town.              And what a day it was in the little town where I grew up long ago. The       Wienermobile showed up in all its bizarre glory at the local Acme market       for some sort of promotion. On board was the famous "Little Oscar" the       little person who was a sort of goodwill mascot for the company. To us       kids, he was famous (he appeared in TV commercials), and for all we knew       was actually "Oscar Mayer." Soon, he began to offer us "wiener       whistles," the much-desired little prizes. Ah, but getting one wouldn't       be easy! First, he would only give one if you could reach your arm       behind your back and bring your hand all the way up and grasp one of       your earlobes. He could do it easily, to taunt us, but few kids could.       Then he made it a bit easier. He started asking us some kind of quiz       questions. The wiener whistles started to flow a little bit. Then,       finally, after he'd had his fun with us, all us kids finally got a       whistle. As I remember, he hung around for quite a while talking with us       about just about anything anyone wanted to talk about. I remember being       impressed by his range of knowledge. He seemed to be able to say       something intelligent about any subject someone would throw at him.       Quite a little guy.              Yeah, I know, Little Oscar wasn't the REAL Oscar Mayer, but he was the       one we saw on TV, so that was good enough for us.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
