From: FrankLho.NOSPAM@rcn.com              The other day my family was discussing conspiracy theories. I brought up       one that I had heard in the early 1970's. According to this theory, the       U.S. knew that UFO's were real, and that aliens will soon be living       among us. To prepare our young for a future with neighbors from another       planet, they created "Sesame Street", a show that gets kids comfortable       with hobnobbing with various non-human creatures.              I like some aspects of this theory. Yes, we will be invaded, but it will       be by creatures that resemble stuffed toys or giant birds. If we were       being invaded by the reptilians, Sesame Street would star Big Lizard and       the letter of the day would always be "V". OTOH we can rule out a "Star       Trek" future, for Sesame Street has no admonitions to play with kids       whose foreheads are shaped differently from yours.              Speaking of Sesame Street, here is the funniest Sesame Street-like clip       I've seen outside of "Avenue Q":               http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VkmLUUev20              I shutter to think of what sort of future that "Teletubbies" is       preparing us for.              --       "All things extant in this world,       Gods of Heaven, gods of Earth,       Let everything be as it should be;       Thus shall it be!"       - Magical chant from "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi"              "Drizzle, Drazzle, Drozzle, Drome,       Time for this one to come home!"       - Mr. Wizard from "Tooter Turtle"              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
