   Bit of a long straw, but can anyone remember a German kids' series (dubbed   
   into English) shown on either BBC or ITV in the 80s, about a boy who had a   
   mysterious/sinister benefactor?  The man was the richest man in the world or   
   something, and had chosen the boy to inherit his fortune, I think; this   
   character often turned up in a chauffeur-driven car and wore dark glasses -   
   I think!  There was some sort of supernatural/scary element going on I   
   think.   
      
   I recall "Silas" more clearly (another dubbed German series) and I think   
   this one was maybe later than that, mid 80s perhaps.
