XPost: uk.media.tv.misc       From: ajmoss@macpaint.fsworld.co.uk.invalid              The schedulers have really fucked us over on this one. At 9pm this       Wednesday there are no fewer than four unmissable programmes on       terrestrial TV:              BBC1: The Human Mind       BBC2: When Michael Portillo became a single mum        (think Wife Swap with a guaranteed wanker)       ITV1: The premiere of the film, Coyote Ugly       C4 : Teachers              Channel 4 have moved Teachers to 9pm to make space for the utterly       pointless and forgettable Teen Big Brother.              I lied in my post last week - I don't have three VCRs; I actually       have three Athlon XP computers with TV capture cards - basically TiVo       substitutes with removable hard disks and CD writers.              I will be recording BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4, and as a public service       I will make video-CDs of the programmes available to anyone who wants       them.              The VCDs are rev. 2.0 compliant - you can play them in a compatible       DVD player, or open the large file avseq01.dat in Windows Media Player       (it's a standard MPEG-1). I capture video clips at a high bit rate and       use TMPGEnc Plus to convert them to VCD format, so the quality is       roughly equal to a VHS videotape in SP.              If you want a copy of one or more of these programmes, e-mail me at       ajmoss@macpaint.fsworld.co.uk.invalid (remove the .invalid), giving       your home address and which VCDs you want. If you want Coyote Ugly,       record it yourself, buy the DVD or wait till Christmas.              Depending on the number of people who ask for copies, I might set up       a CD train: you receive the CD, watch or copy it, and then send it on       to the next person in the train. If you don't want to be part of a CD       train, I can make you VCDs to keep for 50p per CD.              By the way, I'm still looking for a high quality copy of last week's       Teachers that doesn't suffer from the E4 DOG.       --       "I know what I like, and that's white, white, white!"        -- small boy, Hovis advert              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
