   But remember that, while a Turbo Pascal program can output via BIOS   
   calls, it can also output directly.   
      
   I have one program that, by virtue of its purpose, does almost NO   
   operating system calls (including those via library routines) except   
   where it cannot be avoided or an OS/library call is being tested.   
      
   In particular, it accesses the screen directly in DOS, using the memory   
   array at $B800 IIRC; and that works unchanged in Windows 98 (though   
   there, while the OS is not called, it must intervene).
