   Face it, you're going to get nowhere fast by trying to force a Pascal   
   compiler to use a C-like grammar - it's not the Pascal compiler that's   
   behaving badly - you are, so you'll either have to step back and learn   
   more about Pascal or stick with C.  (or even QBasic.  Hmm)   
      
   As others have pointed out, this is also an ancient Pascal and it should   
   really be left to enjoy its sunset years in peace.  Even TP7 is venerable   
   by now but it would still be a better choice - but unfortunately it's no   
   longer sold.   
   So get yourself a copy of FreePascal which is an excellent implementation   
   of what a modern Pascal compiler can do, and please: do stop trying to   
   beat up Pascal compilers because they refuse to understand C constructs.
