Around 1985 the Norfolk and Southern Railway unstalled a new
dispatcher center in Fort Wayne, IN.

Safetran did the building of the actual CTC (Centralized Traffic
Control ) control machinery. They used DEC PDP-11 computers.
The traffic control system was coded in Pascal on the PDP-11's. The
interface was a model board about 40 feet long and 8 feet high with
some 5000 lamps and a custom keyboard, no video at that time.

I understand that dispatcher center is history now but remember
watching the programmers work long hours to get the system runnung.
