   He meant to impress you with pascal accessing the registers directly,   
   with an "assembly klude" pascal is capable of (manipulating registers   
   and int 10, int 21 calls, etc...)   
      
   You would have to understand assembly language to be able to use that   
   effectively--it was just an ego thing on his part--it would only   
   obfuscate things for most beginners... you can choose to ignore it and   
   go on with pascal...
