Way back when, when telnet was used for accessing newsgroups--such
devotion to format may have been needed... still, when the first
crude/elementary newsreaders were created--devotion to format may have
remained important--when linux had no gui and all had to be done from
the commandline--still devotion to format was of some importance...
even now if you read newsgroups off formatted webpages--you may be in
   trouble--GET A REAL NEWSREADER--JOIN A FREE NEWSGROUP SERVER!

Now in 2005 all of this has disappeared, if you insist on running an old
   and limited newsreader--write a plug-in! Else, upgrade!
