   A word of advise:   
   Don't waste you time on file type communications or on BIOS interrupts $14.   
   The only kind of serial comm that works reliably at reasonable speeds is the   
   interrupt driven kind.   
   I've been down this road way back in the eighties.   
   If this is for commercial work, get some supported library, like from   
   Adontec.

   I used Turbo Power's Async Pro myself (with MSDOS, that is), but it is no   
   longer available.   
   If not for commercial work, try some libraries you find with Google, but   
   expect lots of problems with TP versions, DOS versions, DOS-boxes etc.
