   It saves the current state of your browser window[s] directory structure to   
   GVFM.CFG. But when it reloads it has to validate every previously displayed   
   directory to ensure it still exists, and if expanded, see what   
   subdirectories it [now] contains, etc, otherwise GVFM might present the user   
   with a false impression of the current state of their file system. I can't   
   see any other alternative except to present the user with an empty desktop   
   each time GVFM is run. Subfolders that were not visible in a directory tree   
   are of no importance at load-time and are are not validiated.
