From: ohland@charter.net              Can you change the monitor and cable? We do forlorn hopes here all the       time...              Screen artifacts? Lines? Characters?              Can you give us the advanced diagnostics error code [not that it fixes       anything]?              "XGA-2 graphics enabled with ISO 9241-3 when coupled with compliant       display and operating system"              After repeated "Beatings By Helga" (TM), my memory is kaotic, but some       snippets that XGA-2 prefers 95xx monitors. This does not mean 85xx       monitors won't work, but the 95xx support a wider range of resolutions.       This by itself is not the smoking gun, but IBM developed the monitor ID       function where the very limited circuitry [two resistors?] is in the       monitor.              Are you using a CRT or LED monitor? CRT will possumbly have the monitor ID.              Carsten Lyng wrote:       > When the machine starts, I get this error code 00240100       > and the machine boots into the Ref / diagnostic screen.       >       > When I run diagnostics on the machine, the onboard XGA-2 is fails the test.       > ( have the unit serviced )       >       > I´am not able to boot to dos, because the machine boots to the Ref /       Diagnostics screen.       >       > There are a few screen artifacts, when the system is power on, but only in a       second or so.       > Is there any way to disable the onboard XGA-2 and use another graphics card       in one of the MCA slots ?.
