|    IBM XGA-2 vs CL-GD5426 and others    |

From: jcarron2@gmail.com              Hi,              Wondering if there is any knowledge out there, I have a Reply80 board in my       model 80, with the boring Cirrus Logic 5426. Would there be any improvement       in dropping in a XGA-2 card in terms of video performance (speed) ? I realize       that both are 1mb cards,        ( perhaps the 5426 can maybe be increase to 2mb by soldering on       sockets/installing chips for higher resolutions, read something about drivers       not supporting this though).               Anyways other than filling in the model 80 with an additional card to cover       the missing slot cover, drawing a few more watts, and things looking cooler       with the side panel off, would the XGA-2 card perform faster at VGA resolution       tasks, eg a game, or        Win/OS2 gui performance (not that I'd be able to notice any of it) ?               Maybe I should just try the landmark benchmark and see how many CPS each can       do?               TIA,       Jonathan              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
