   Yeah, it DOES matter.  Kirk, Spock, and the other TOS cast have become   
   icons in the canon.  True, Hollywood was able to put a new face on   
   James Bond from time to time.  But, for some, Sean Connery was the   
   iconic face of Bond, no matter who followed him.  The bond (pun   
   intended) between Shatner and Kirk, Nimoy and Spock, etc. is so strong   
   and so indelible that at least SOME attempt must be made to honor that.   
    But since when has Hollywood had honor?
