Agreed. The problem is multifold here. Berman has, with directly quotable
words, said that he had no background in science fiction prior to being
hired into production of The Next Generation, and did not like science
fiction at that. He, Berman, was brought in as an experienced Hollywood
producer to assist in the direction of TNG.

Braga, I believe, has similar circumstances in that he has, also via
directly quotable words, expressed no previous interest in Star Trek and
therefore has no background into the lore of the created Star Trek universe.

So, we have two individuals with a somewhat slanted view of what science
fiction means to science fiction fans, that is one of relative outsiders.
To both Berman and Braga, who have once again said in direct quotes, time
travel stories hold the most personal interest because to them they proved
the most entertaining. They, I believe, have no understanding of the basic
principles of plausibility which surrounds the acceptance of science fiction
to the reader / viewer and no concept of the fact that continued use of
travel time story lines has the effect of destroying this plausibility
   structure.

Therefore, with both Berman and Braga in relatively full control over the
science fiction story line that we call Star Trek, there is no
counterbalance of viewpoints in regards to long term science fiction
structure within the created fictional time line.

In other cruder words, Berman and Braga don't know nor have a background in
sci-fi, are not interested in the historical precedent of the fiction, do
not seem bothered by this and are therefore free to run amok inside their
science fiction production creation (Star Trek).

We desperately need some balance inside Paramount in regards to this, before
it is too late (if indeed it is not too late to begin with).
