Not sure how my comments were disrespectful to our troops. My point was to
show how the producers of Trek have taken the 9/11 attack on America and the
subsequent war on terror and used that for the Xindi arc. The terrorists we
were fighting in Afghanistan and the so called "terrorists" we're fighting
with in Iraq are completely different. We're currently engaged with what's
left of Iraq's national defense forces where as the fighting in Afghanistan
was done primarily by special ops against an enemy that hid high in the
mountains and in caves. You could almost say it was an "unseen enemy." The
kind you'd just drop a daisy cutter on. Two different conflicts. Sure the
Iraqi's are using some terrorist tactics like suicide bombers, but you
should expect that sort of thing when you invade someone's country...or did
we not learn anything from the Viet Cong?

Despite what Bush and his cronies have said there is no solid evidence
linking Iraq to any terrorist attack (especially 9/11). Therefore the wars
in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq should be looked as two separate
conflicts and not part of the overall "war on terrorism." Bush himself is
even changing his reasoning for going to war in Iraq as it now has become
one of nation building and to bring democracy to an oppressed people. Still
no word as to when he plans to bring democracy to the oppressed peoples of
China, Africa, Cuba, etc. Is the world better off without Hussein? Of
course. Has this administration had a hard on for him since before GW was
sworn in? Yes. Most important of all was he a threat to the USA or it's
allies? No...like Castro he was a contained threat. Was he worth the
sacrifices made by our troops and families? No..not at this time.
Personally, I'd rather have sunk 87 billion into finding bin Laden so we
could drop his head in Times Square this New Year's Eve. But that's just
me...if somebody kills 3,000 of my countrymen I hold them personally
responsible, not the next best thing.

So if we agree to disagree about the war or Star Trek that's fine and I
respect your opinion. Just don't wrap yourself up in the flag or tell me I
don't understand the issue. Having said all this...I think Enterprise sucks
   how about you?
