   Well, it is true that Shatner was saying at the time that he would not   
   do a cameo (echoing Nimoy and Kelley for "Generations"), but we're   
   left with a "he-said/she-said" over whether Abrams actually asked   
   Shatner. It could well be that Abrams's guys talked to Shatner's guys,   
   or Abrams thought his guys had asked Shatner, but instead the guys   
   heard all the "I won't do a cameo" commentary from Shatner and never   
   actually asked him.   
      
   Or this could all be camouflage, and Shatner really did a cameo way   
   back at the beginning.
