   First, I think it's funny you replied to a post from 26 years in the past.   
   That said, my imagination takes me to the thought of an entire culture being   
   empathic. Reading minds, in that context, would mean that the ability is   
   absolutely natural. Reading one's mind would be tantamount to reading   
   someone's body language on Earth. No one seeks permission to read body   
   language.   
      
   I also imagine that empaths have an ability to censor what they're thinking   
   if they prefer to keep it private.   
      
   Interesting philosophical discussion, albeit an ancient one.
