   I believe you are missing all my points.  "Once the dialog rolled".   
   Exactly.  And it was still up to the viewer to put the pieces of that dialog   
   together.  That's really not great film editing nor story telling; a couple   
   of simple plot devices were available to use by the writer / director to   
   avoid this vagueness but were not used.

   Which proves that even you were confused by the scene cut initially, but   
   once you managed to put the pieces together you understood what was going   
   on.  If, by some reason, you missed some of the connections you were unable   
   to put those pieces together yourself.   
      
   This was totally avoidable.
