   I think they were borrowing a page from "Pulp Fiction". In the end   
   of that movie, you see Jules and Vincent stroll out of the cafe (into   
   the sunset, as it were), happy and content -- even though you know that   
   Vincent is going to be ventilated by Butch in just a few hours.
