XPost: alt.fan.tom-servo, rec.arts.sf.misc, rec.arts.sf.tv       From: storvik@gmail.com               I've just started re-watching the first season of Star Trek (TOS) on       DVD...               In "Man Trap", the first episode of Star Trek to be aired, there is a       creature (dubbed "the salt vampire" by fans) who is able to change the way       that people perceive it through mental suggestion - so multiple people can       simultaneously be seeing it differently. Ignoring the scene near the end       when the Enterprise's department heads meet and the SV is impersonating Dr.       McCoy, every named character (even the three who die on the planet) sees       the SV as a human of the opposite sex -- Kirk, McCoy, Green, Sturgeon, and       Darnell all see the SV as a woman, and both Rand and Uhura see the SV as a       man. The sole exception to this is Hikaru Sulu - whenever he sees the SV,       he sees the SV as another man.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
