   Spock is older than Kirk, but he also started at the Academy at an   
   older age, so technically they were both at the Academy at the same   
   time, just not in the same graduating year.   
      
   That isn't the worrying point. The most disturbing line is how Abrams   
   would prefer people not to know the series ... that stinks VERY highly   
   of lots of moronic changes that ignore everything that's come before,   
   ie. yet another of the  typical "name only" remake / update garbage   
   Holyweird has been churning out over the last few years.
