No. James Bond, Batman etc. existed BEFORE an actor "created" them. They
were characters who various actors have tried to play. Kirk and Spock were
created in large part by Shatner and Nimoy's portrayal of them. After 30+
years, they are for Star Trek fans indelibly linked. When you see a drawing
of James Bond or Batman or Sherlock Holmes what exactly does the face look
like? What does his voice sound like? What are his exact mannerisms? Highly
variable. Not so for Kirk and Spock. When anybody thinks of either of them,
they think of one face and one person.

Can you hire new actors to play them? Sure. They are doing just that.
However, this represents a radical change in the very nature of Star Trek
and it is not comparable to different actors portraying Macbeth or Batman.
Do I want to see it? No. I do not want another actor's "take" on the
character, nor do I want an imitation.
