   My feeling is the fans don't really want any new Trek right now. They (we,   
   whatever) want to be nostalgic for a while. Some enjoy the fan productions   
   that allow a nice wallow in nostalgia. Everyone just wants to watch their   
   DVDs of old Trek and enjoy the good old days. I don't sense any real hunger   
   for *new" Trek at all.   
      
   People talk vaguely about wanting it to "get back to the original vision"   
   and but nobody has any real idea of anything they'd actually like to see in   
   any specific terms. People need a break. That's why I think getting a new   
   film out so soon is a colossal error on the studio's part. Even if it's   
   good, people just haven't had time to get excited about a "restart".
