   So?!?!? It *is* fiction. :-)   
      
   It's the same basic idea behind The Phantom. Besides, if they're all   
   called "James Bond" it makes it difficult for the bad guys to track   
   down any history on them, kidnap family members, etc.

   Money is not the-be-all and end-all of everything ... except for greedy   
   sods in "big business". :-(   
      
   The franchise is obviously created to (at least partly) make money by   
   the network, but that's not why fans go to see it, buy the books, etc.   
      
   As above, if the franchise is no popular enough to make money for them,   
   then they should end it and leave it to the fans. Instead of making   
   some garbage that is "Star Trek" in nothing but name, they should   
   simply make a brand new franchise ... of course they can't do that   
   because they have no real creativity of their own and are too scared to   
   take the chance, so they try conning the fans by re-using the same   
   name.
