   She was around 70 when I had to convince my mother she could drive an   
   automatic. She'd only been driving since 1921 and had taught her father   
   how to drive. She adapted to AT, power brakes, and power steering nicely.   
      
   My first car was an automatic but I eventually replaced the tired   
   Torqueflight with a manual. Easier said than done.
