   So what I do not agree with is your characterizing of Notepad++ as an   
   editor. It's not being USED as an editor; it's being USED as a conversion   
   tool. The editor is gVim. I could use gVim as that conversion tool, but   
   notepad does it very easily with the given shortcuts.xml mechanism.   
      
   They're different tasks.   
   Completely different tasks, in fact.   
      
   So you can't deprecate the use of Notepad++ as a conversion tool.   
   Not unless you have a BETTER conversion tool than Notepad++ is.   
      
   The whole point of using Notepad++ is NOT to use it as an EDITOR.   
   I have no intention of *ever* using Notepad++ as an EDITOR.   
   My $EDITOR is gVim. And it always has been gVim. It always will be.   
      
   Notepad++ is simply a file-conversion tool.   
   It converts text with Unicode to ASCII keyboard text without Unicode.   
      
   Specifically, it converts anything I copy and paste to keyboard ASCII.   
   So the fact "nobody uses Notepad++" is meaningless in terms of editing.   
      
   The whole point is that Notepad++ is merely the CLI conversion tool.   
   It's NOT the $EDITOR and it never will be (at least for me it won't).
