   But NNTP, HTTP and FTP are all protocols enabling computers to   
   communicate with each other at a distance. The Internet is a network   
   of networks, a metanetwork if you like, of computers communicating   
   with each other using those protocols.   
      
   If you draw a Venn diagram, it would show Usenet and the Internet   
   overlapping, but not identical. I would define Usenet as a collection   
   of online forums, called "newsgroups" named according to a certain   
   pattern. The technology of how people communicate using them may vary   
   -- the main means is NNTP, but other protocols may be used.
