   To a certain degree,

But Micron gave them enough autonomy, that when the
Micron-chip based modules were having problems, Crucial was
allowed to substitute Samsung chips on modules while
   the details were ironed out.

Crucial had Ballistix branded sticks (which would be
similar intent to Kingston Hyper-X), but they also made
modules without the word Ballistix, and I have four
of those on my old 440BX based system.

There are still enough suppliers of branded DRAM,
to find a source. Until the supply has
entirely disappeared, and any companies involved go under.

I don't buy unbranded stuff, as I had a lot of
trouble with unbranded sticks, so they're off my
   shopping list.
