   | I have a '03 Tacoma Doublecab Pre-Runner, V6.
   | When the truck was about 11 months old the front rotors started to
   | warp. So when the truck was only 1 year old I had to have the rotors
   | replaced.
   | Two years ago they began to warp again, and I was able to get them
   | turned to fix the problem. Now they're warped again.
   |
   | I'm going to do the front brakes myself... and replace the rotors
   | while I'm at it.
   |
   | Anyone else have this problem, with the rotors warping?
   | The service manager (a woman) at the Toyota dealer said it was my
   | fault... "it must be the way I drive". I'm 52 years old. I've owned
   | a lot of different vehicles in the last 34 years. And NONE of them
   | ever had the rotors warp. And this one has done it 3 times. I tried
   | to explain to her that I don't brake any differently with this
   | vehicle.
   |
   | I plan on using ceramic pads (because they have less dust). Does
   | anyone know if they are more, or less, likely to cause the rotors to
   | warp?
   | Are all rotors the same? Are there any that are less prone to
   | warping?
   |
   | Thanks

Have not had this problem on my '99 Tacoma but have experienced it on my
'00 GMC Safari van. According to a mechanic friend he has seen a lot of
this after people have their tires rotated. Lug nuts torqued uneven or
just too flimsy rotor material may be the problem. I have been rotating
the tires on the Tacoma myself since I include the spare and rotate more
often than my tire dealer will do it. I use a torque wrench set on 105
   lbs.
